RWTH Aachen

  • Candidates with a BSc/BEng diploma in electrical engineering or a related field

  • An overall grade of at least "good" (PL: 4.0) from the Bachelor's diploma is required for Double Degree candidates

  • Language requirements (English proficiency):
    • For EU and non-EU candidates:

      • TOEFL - minimum 213 points (computer-based) or 79 points (internet-based)
      • IELTS - minimum 6.0 points
      • CAE Cambridge Advanced English - minimum grade C
      • CPE Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency - minimum grade B
      • UNICERT III

    • For WUST students and alums – a B2 level English exam passed with a minimum score of 4.0.

  • Each application is assessed individually

  • Semester Location:

    • Three semesters with an internship at RWTH Aachen University
    • The Master's Thesis semester at WUST (Wroclaw University of Science and Technology)

  • Example Study Plan (3 semesters at RWTH, 4th semester at WUST):
    Each student submits an individual study plan, prepared per the established curriculum for the entire duration of the dual degree program, which the host institution approves and then by the home institution, according to its own criteria.

  • Recruitment Deadlines
    The recruitment period for the double degree program typically falls around the following dates each year:

    • July 1st – Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST)
    • May 31st  – RWTH Aachen University

    Please note that these are approximate dates and may vary slightly depending on the academic calendar. We strongly recommend checking the official website of the partner university for the most up-to-date information. A direct link is available in the Contact section. Applicants should also check the current dates on the WUST Admission Office website.

  • Application procedure for RWTH:

    • RWTH requires an official nomination from the partner university (WUST) and an online registration in their admission system
    • Students must upload the following documents in the online registration system (original documents by post are not required):

      • An online registration form signed by the home university coordinator
      • Transcript of Records (an overview of academic achievements at the home university)
      • Letter of motivation (one to two pages)
      • CV (one to two pages)

    • The complete application is then forwarded to the faculty's TIME Double Degree coordinator for approval
    • The International Office at RWTH conveys the admission information to the student, provides the official admission letter, and informs the student about the online enrollment procedure.
    • TIME Double Degree students at RWTH who need to attain a B1 level for studies in German are invited to participate in a free intensive German language course at the RWTH Language Center in September each year.
    • The International Office has a small allotment of rooms in student dorms, for which TIME Double Degree students are also eligible to apply, though no guarantee can be given.
    • Students must arrive in Aachen two weeks before classes start to attend the Welcome Week and complete administrative procedures
  • Non-EU candidates: 2000 EUR/semester tuition fee at WUST or the respective tuition fee at RWTH

  • No tuition fee for students matriculated at the MSc Programme at WUST and students enrolled at the MSc programme at RWTH (DD option) as partner Universities
