The Faculty of Electrical Engineering is one of the twelve faculties at Wroclaw University of Technology, one of the top universities of this kind in Poland. The Faculty was established in 1945 and since then has educated plenty of students whose knowledge is well respected not only in the country, but also abroad. Its high position is confirmed by the fact that its five professors hold the title doctor honoris causa. In 2016 it has been recognised as the best Electrical Engineering Faculty in Poland by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The Faculty consists of three Departments: Department of Electrical Engineering Fundamentals (W5/K1), Department of Electrical Power Engineering (W5/K2), Department of Electrical Machines, Drives and Measurements (W5/K3), Administration of Faculty. The Faculty offers B. Sc., M. Sc. and Ph. D. academic degrees. The programmes focus on three main fields of study: Electrical Engineering, Automation and Robotics and Mechatronics. The candidates have the possibility of enrolling in the regular or part-time programme of studies. The latter is suitable for these students whose employment duties constrain their time schedule.

Studying at the Faculty is a unique opportunity to develop specialist skills, deepen understanding of electrical engineering and gain new insights and perspectives to equip students’ career ahead. Our electrical engineering graduates fairly easy find their jobs, firstly because of being professionally educated and secondly because electrical engineering is one of the fastest developing fields of industry all over the world. The range of knowledge gained during our studies is amazingly broad and versatile and opens the opportunity to work in other countries as well.

Excellent facilities and high quality of the conducted research at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering inspires collaboration with many Polish and international companies such as ABB, Areva, Alstom, LG, Orange, Philips, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Tauron, Transition Technologies, Toyota, Wabco. According to the agreements signed with these companies, numerous joint research projects are under way. Students may benefit from internships and prepare their graduate Master Theses related to the topics agreed with our industrial partners. As far as educational programmes are concerned, the Faculty cooperates with numerous universities from abroad: University of East London, University of the West of England, Cork Institute of Technology, Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus, Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Ryazan State Radio Engineering University, Tsinghua University in Beijing, Ryerson University in Toronto, Irkutsk State Technical University. The cooperation concerns the exchange of students and staff and also common research. Our students may also participate in various Students International Exchange Programmes, supporting study abroad and also in international internships. The Programmes foster not only learning and understanding of the host country, but also a sense of community among students from different countries.
